Euclid
worked around 300 BC

Unfortunately, there are no surviving sculptures to show us what this person looked like.

Euclid was a mathematician. He was the first person to investigate geometry (the study of shapes, lines and points).

He gathered his discoveries and theories into a book called Elements. Elements was one of the first maths books to be printed. It was still used in schools many centuries later.
