Women - Running Girl

The lives of Spartan women seem to have been rather different from those of other Greek women. Their education included lots of physical exercise and girls were expected to take part in athletic contests.

Spartans thought that by ensuring the fitness of Spartan girls they would be more likely to have strong babies, who, if male, would grow up to be good soldiers.
